Hot Aging Water/Oil Bath

Hot Aging Water/Oil Bath

Water/oil bath for thermal aging tests of cables and insulating materials, up to 100 °C in water and 150 °C in oil, with SSR PID control.

Description

Thermal aging tests are carried out by holding samples at a constant temperature. The unit has a stainless steel sample compartment, a lidded body, an Enda thermostat and a three-phase switch.

Specifications

  • Supply voltage: 3 × 230 V AC, 50 Hz
  • Power: 7500 W
  • Maximum temperature: 100 °C (water) / 150 °C (oil)
  • Thermocouple: Fecost
  • Control: SSR PID
  • Model: Endsy 03
  • Body: Stainless steel with lid; water filling area

Operation

The three-phase switch is turned on and the thermostat is set to the test temperature. Once the temperature is stable, the test sample is placed in the sample holder and the test begins. The date, time and sample details are recorded on the unit.

Function Check

An external thermometer thermocouple is selected and placed inside the unit (raised above the floor). At 100 °C the sound of boiling should be heard without actual boiling; boiling point is taken as 100 °C at sea level. The same thermocouple is then placed in iced water and, after a short wait, should read 0 °C. The aging bath is set to 100 °C, the difference is observed and compared with the calibration company's values at that point.
